Director Daniel Benmayor’s commercials convey a mischievous joie de vivre. Whether you are watching a pack of greyhounds race optimistically through a city in VW Golf’s “Rabbit,” racecars navigating a track with the studied movements of a waltz in Pirelli’s “Let’s Dance,” or a come-undone bride chasing an elusive interloper in Converse’s “Boda,” you experience a contagious momentum.

“I really enjoy energy,” explains Benmayor. “Energy can come from a look in your eyes, not only action and adventure. I gravitate toward visually oriented storytelling.”

Benmayor was tapped by Alex Bogusky (COMMON) to direct two high-profile spots for Israeli company SodaStream. “SodaStream Effect” premiered on the Super Bowl, “Game Changer” shortly thereafter. Both were much discussed in the press for taking Big Soda advertising to task. Benmayor has also directed acclaimed spots for Sony PlayStation, Vodafone and Mercedes, and worked with top agencies including Anomaly New York, DDB Barcelona and TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles. He’s directed the feature films Paintball and Bruc, The Manhunt, a thriller and historical action-adventure, respectively. And he also directed the upcoming Tracers, a parkour thriller called starring Taylor Lautner.

Benmayor grew up in Barcelona and attended university for film, screenwriting and advertising. Later he moved to New York and received a Master’s Degree in Directing from NYU.
