Director Garth Davis was a DGA award nominee in 2009 for work on US Cellular’s Shadow Puppets, out of Publicis & Hal Riney. In recent years Davis has garnered international attention for the cult favorite :60 spot Ninja Kitten for Toyota where he combines adorable kittens practicing vigorous martial art moves with head-turning music as the backdrop. Davis’ work on a spot for Toohey’s Extra Dry Tongue, earned him two Golds and a Bronze award at AWARD, Australia, and a Gold and Silver Clio. Davis won the elusive Gold Lion at Cannes for his efforts on Schweppes Burst. Additional spots include Coca-Cola, Halifax, Herringbone, XBOX, Cravendale, Boots and Crest for agencies such as Wieden+Kennedy, Publicis & Hal Riney, M&C Saatchi, Mother and McCann Worldgroup to name a few.
Being gifted across many mediums, Davis has directed three one-hour episodes for the second series of the critically acclaimed Love My Way headed by Claudia Karvan. In addition to the numerous awards Davis has received in the commercial arena, his work on short films has earned him national and international acclaim. The first short film he ever worked on, Alice secured him a Dendy Award at the Sydney International Film Festival, and the audience choice award at Flickerfest. With his joint success in both commercial advertising and TV drama’s he was a shoo-in for the 2004 Lexus IF Award for Rising Talent in Australia later that same year.
Prior to joining Anonymous Content, Davis spent a year at a leading design firm Emery Vincent and Associates, and then formed a collaborative experimental design company called Trampoline, where he was soon directing characters and narrative. Davis later joined Exit Films, Australia to explore the film medium, assisting director Henrik Dannerfjord for a year, before taking a year overseas to focus on film-making, fine arts, and life experiences.
