Award-winning Director Peter Thwaites’ work is highlighted by immaculate attention to lighting and framing, a focus on ideas and narrative, and the ease with which he maneuvers from purely visual concepts to subtle performances and dialogue. He is one of the most sought after commercial directors in the industry, which led to him winning the coveted 2009 DGA Award for Outstanding Contribution to Commercials. He also holds Gold and Silver accolades from D&AD, British Television Awards, Creative Circle and the One Show.
Thwaites award-winning commercial lineup includes spots for Honda, Audi, Barclaycard and Vodafone. He has collaborated with a plethora of major agencies, including Wieden+Kennedy, BBH, JWT, AMV BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi and Publicis.
In addition to his commercial work, Thwaites has had key roles in a number of feature films. He directed The Stars Don’t Twinkle in Outer Space (2008), which was featured in the Venice, Valldolid, Stockholm, Santa Barbara and Cinequest film festivals. He has acted as cinematographer on a number of movies and short films as well.
Thwaites is a 1995 graduate of the National Film and Television School in England.
