Purchase Brothers

Brothers David and Ian Purchase are a two-man filmmaking assault crew creating content that is unique, eye-catching, and entertaining. The brothers’ interest in filmmaking began at an early age, when they would create stop-motion animations and action comedies with friends using their parents’ Hi8 camcorders. The advent of digital in the late 90’s encouraged and enabled their creative process, as they began teaching themselves about each advancement in technology and applying those lessons to subsequent projects.

The pair single-handedly tackled nearly every aspect of their past projects before transitioning into commercials. Their evolution into features followed their production of a series of short films with increasingly advanced visuals that caught significant viral attention online and in Hollywood. Firm in their vision, yet collaborative, they direct together or separately depending on the project.

Whether working on commercials or their indie work their goal with any project is to achieve the utmost level of realism while also retaining a strong cinematic tone. And above all, doing what is necessary for the core story of any given project. To achieve this level of 'cinematic realism' the brothers employ a number of techniques. Through the use of handheld camera's, wide angle imagery, and a strong emphasis on sound design, they achieve a realistic, raw tone and visual aesthetic, while not compromising the cinematic nature of the project. They seamlessly blend live action and CG visual effects into visually arresting final piece.
